SUSTAINABLE OASIS RESEARCH

Experiments

This is the working registry for Sustainable Oasis experiments.

Every experiment begins as a question. Its status changes only when measurements justify the change.

QUESTION HYPOTHESIS SETUP TEST MEASURE CONCLUDE

EXPERIMENT STATUS

Status must reflect evidence.

A compelling idea remains an idea until the experiment produces documented measurements.

01

Concept

A proposed mechanism or research question that has not yet been tested.

CONCEPT
02

Planned

The question, test procedure and measurement method are being defined.

PLANNED
03

Testing

A physical test is underway and measurements are being collected.

TESTING
04

Measured

A test has produced recorded observations with known units and conditions.

MEASURED

MASTER R&D PROJECT

Sustainable Oasis Energy Management System

SO-EMS provides the energy-accounting framework required to evaluate many of our energy experiments.

Before judging whether an energy concept is useful, we need reliable measurements of energy entering, leaving, being stored and being recovered.

ENERGY EXPERIMENTS

Measure energy before interpreting it.

Experimental energy systems must be evaluated using complete input-versus-output accounting.

EXP-E001

SO-EMS Energy Meter

Build a low-voltage DC measurement bench capable of recording energy input, output, storage and recovery in watt-hours.

DEVELOPMENT Open experiment →
EXP-E002

Regenerative Energy Recovery

Measure how much useful electrical energy can be recovered from a known mechanical or electrical process compared with the energy originally supplied.

CONCEPT
EXP-E003

Flywheel Storage

Test mechanical energy storage by measuring charging input, rotational decay and recoverable electrical output.

CONCEPT
EXP-E004

Compressed-Air Recovery

Compare the electrical energy required to compress air with the useful electrical or mechanical energy recovered during discharge.

CONCEPT
EXP-E005

Magnetic Rotor Investigation

Measure startup energy, rotational behaviour, losses and electrical output from a rotor using permanent magnets.

The test must account for all external energy inputs and should not assume self-sustaining operation.

UNTESTED
EXP-E006

Dual Storage Cycling

Investigate whether alternating energy storage banks creates a useful operating advantage after conversion losses and total system inputs are measured.

CONCEPT
EXP-E007

Vehicle Airflow Recovery

Measure whether extracting energy from airflow around a moving vehicle creates enough useful output to justify the additional aerodynamic drag.

CONCEPT
EXP-E008

Multi-Source Vehicle Energy Model

Develop a measured architecture combining generation, storage and recovery sources while tracking energy in every direction.

PLANNED

WATER EXPERIMENTS

Water can move mass, heat and energy.

These experiments examine water flow, gravity, circulation, storage and recovery without assuming that any loop can create net energy.

EXP-W001

Gravity Water Loop

Measure flow rate, pressure, head and turbine output as water moves through elevated storage and lower collection points.

PLANNED
EXP-W002

Micro-Hydro Recovery

Measure useful electrical energy recovered from water that already needs to move through an elevation change.

PLANNED
EXP-W003

Tank Head & Flow

Characterize how water level, pipe diameter, restrictions and vertical head affect practical flow rate.

PLANNED
EXP-W004

Rainwater Yield Validation

Compare calculated rainwater collection with measured tank inflow after real roof and gutter losses.

PLANNED Estimate collection →

THERMAL EXPERIMENTS

Measure temperature gradients and useful heat flow.

EXP-T001

Ground / Pond Thermal Exchange

Measure soil, water and ambient temperatures to determine whether useful seasonal thermal exchange exists at a selected site.

CONCEPT
EXP-T002

Passive Thermal Storage

Compare temperature stability in water, soil or other thermal mass under controlled conditions.

CONCEPT

MATERIAL EXPERIMENTS

Observe electrical potential before assigning a cause.

EXP-M001

Ground Rod Potential

Compare electrical potential produced by different electrode materials and geometries in soil under controlled conditions.

Copper, steel and other materials should be tested using the same soil, spacing, depth, moisture and measurement method.

CONCEPT
EXP-M002

Soil Electrical Environment

Measure voltage, current, soil moisture, temperature and electrode behaviour over time before evaluating any possible biological interaction.

CONCEPT

FOOD EXPERIMENTS

Compare growing systems using real harvest data.

EXP-F001

Water Efficiency Trial

Compare kilograms harvested with litres of irrigation water across selected growing methods.

PLANNED Food Calculator →
EXP-F002

Growing Area Productivity

Compare usable harvest per square metre under documented growing conditions.

PLANNED
EXP-F003

Aquaponic Resource Balance

Track water, electricity, feed and biological output in an integrated aquaponic test.

CONCEPT

AUTOMATION EXPERIMENTS

Automate only after measurement is reliable.

EXP-A001

Tank-Level Monitoring

Compare low-cost water-level sensing methods for accuracy, reliability and installation complexity.

PLANNED
EXP-A002

Smart Pump Protection

Test whether tank-level and flow measurements can reliably protect pumps from dry-running conditions.

PLANNED
EXP-A003

Sensor-to-Control-Room Pipeline

Replace manually entered Control Room values with measured sensor data while preserving source, timestamp and data classification.

PLANNED

STANDARD EXPERIMENT RECORD

Every experiment should follow the same structure.

01

Experiment ID

Give every experiment a permanent reference number.

02

Question

Define exactly what the experiment is trying to determine.

03

Hypothesis

State the expected result before testing.

04

Variables

Identify what changes and what must remain controlled.

05

Instrumentation

Record the measurement devices, ranges and units.

06

Procedure

Describe the test clearly enough to repeat it.

07

Raw Data

Preserve observations before interpretation.

08

Conclusion

State only what the measurements support.

ENERGY RESEARCH RULE

Every input counts.

Motors, batteries, compressed air, pumps, external chargers, gravity resets and control electronics must all be included when evaluating an energy system.

Useful energy recovery is valuable. It should not be confused with energy creation.

RESEARCH PIPELINE

A useful idea earns its way into the Oasis.
